How to Help a Child with Impulsive Behavior – Gordon Neufeld, PhD

When we define a child as impulsive, what we mean is this child is experiencing one emotion at a time. The prefrontal cortex allows us to feel multiple feelings simultaneously, and this part of the brain starts to develop at 5-7 years of age. Children need lots of developmental support through this period.

Dr. Gordon Neufeld speaks on allowing a child to grow up with a “soft heart” and for parents to be supportive while children develop self-control.
